Real Madrid are set for one of their biggest summers in some time that could reshape the European champions for years to come, and according to reports, Los Blancos could sell Marco Asensio.

The Spanish international was once hailed as a potential superstar for Madrid, though over the past few years, Asensio’s impact on the team has withered away, and now the likes of Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing the 26-year-old winger.

Indeed, the Gunners’ interest in Asensio has long been reported, and with Madrid now willing to sell the playmaker, the Mallorca-born talent could finally be ready to move on from La Liga, though north London might not be the ideal destination.

With stacks of quality out on the wings, the last thing Arsenal need is another wide player, not to mention one like Asensio, who has a reported release clause of €700m (£600m). With that in mind, who could realistically sign the Madrid star this summer?

As well as Arsenal, one side who is reportedly interested in signing Asensio this summer is Juventus, with the Serie A giants now going two years without winning the Scudetto and in desperate need of a new plan. And the Real Madrid star could provide just that.

With Paulo Dybala leaving and numerous big-name players likely to depart Turin this summer, Asensio could be an ideal signing for M***imiliano Allegri’s side, especially given how good Juventus’ relationship is with Madrid is off the pitch when it comes to transfers.

The race for Asensio seems to be dominated by two sides. Arsenal, who as stated don’t really need the Spanish international, and Manchester United, who could actually do with the playmaker and his qualities out on the wing.

Erik Ten Hag’s task this summer of starting to rebuild United is one of the biggest in football, and with creativity a major quality the Red Devils are lacking, the Dutchman signing Asensio will add plenty to the squad that the Manchester giants are currently missing, with the Spanish international likely also open to moving to the Premier League giants.

With any big-name player on the move now, Newcastle United are bound to be near the scene, and reports seem to indicate that the Magpies are potentially plotting a move for Asensio, as ambitious as it would be at this stage.

Indeed, Newcastle have the funds to match whatever wage Asensio is asking for, and with the Magpies in the early stages of becoming the next super club in European football, a flagship signing with a name as big as the Real Madrid star would be an excellent next step for the PIF regime in their bid to catapult the Toon to the next level.

Tottenham

Antonio Conte has already gone big on signings for Tottenham this summer, with Ivan Perisic and potentially Yves Bissouma all joining the north London side as Spurs look to end their trophy drought, and Asensio could add the creative quality the club have missed since Christian Eriksen’s departure.

Whilst Dejan Kulusevski has added this on the right-wing, adding Asensio could make Tottenham’s attack unstoppable, with the Real Madrid star no doubt open to joining Conte at Spurs this summer if an offer came in.

West Ham once again qualified for Europe after finishing seventh in the Premier League, and with reports that David Moyes is keen to add to the attack, Asensio could be a shock signing that would take the Irons to the next level.

The Hammers have the pull of being a top Premier League side in London to attract Asensio to England, and the Spaniard would no doubt become a star player for West Ham should the club opt to make a move for the rumoured Arsenal target in the coming months.
