What happened to Dylan Rounds? The search for a missing 19-year-old Utah ‘farmer’ is still going on.
Dylan Rounds’ boots and pickup truck were recovered five miles west of his campground by deputies. The search for Dylan Rounds, who went missing while living in a rural part of northern Utah, is getting more intense. According to his parents, Rounds, 19, moved from Idaho to Lucin, Utah, to pursue his dream of being a farmer. His parents fear foul play after he vanished after sowing his crop. On May 26, 2022, he was last seen in person in a tavern in Montello, Nevada, roughly 30 miles west of his home.

“On May 28, there were cellphone pings that showed Dylan was — or at least Dylan’s phone was — in the Lucin area of Utah,” Elko County Lt Doug Fisher said. Rounds made a phone call to a family member on the morning of May 28 and hasn’t been heard from since. Right now, things are heating up in the quest for clues. The Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation, with the Elko County Sheriff’s Office in Nevada following up on leads.

Deputies discovered Rounds’ boots and pickup truck about five miles west of his campground. “We were permitted to take the truck home,” Rounds’ mother Candice Cooley recalled. Because… Utah is still handling it as a simple missing person case, anything that could’ve been pulled off the pickup as far as the way the pickup records stuff, it may be gone.”

Cooley was upset with the police response at first, but claimed there was a lot more going on on Saturday. “There’s a lot of contradicting information,” Lt Fisher explained, “so we’re trying to vet all of it to see what’s gossip and what’s true.” He continued, “We’re trying to get down to the facts.”

Volunteers are also on the watch for Rounds, with some even helping to feed the hunt. Rounds’ parents are holding up their end of the bargain by focusing on the hunt. “That has to be our concentration,” Cooley stated, “because if you break down in the middle of this, your emphasis becomes your emotions, and when your emotions take over, you’re not logical.” And if you’re not logical, precise, and based on facts, we won’t be able to assist in the search for Dylan.”

Rounds’ family is offering a reward of $20,000 for information leading to his recovery. He is 5’10” tall and weighs approximately 160 pounds. His eyes are brown, and his hair is brown. If you have any information, call the Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office at 435-734-3800.
