Mike Mvelase played a role as Khaphela, Tau’s manservant and trusted Ally in the hit movie Generations, a South African soap opera created and produced by Mfundi Vundla which airs on SABC 1.

The South African actor is renowned for his performances in popular shows including the likes of Hearts and Minds, Africa Skies, Ifa Lakwa Mthethwa and Isidingo.

In December 2012, Khaphela made his farewell appearance on the show with his character being killed off the series.

The actor has chastised the Mawande story line with the argument that, the “storyline is way out of touch with our values, culture and morals”.

“They introduced this Mawande character and her kids who will do anything to get their parents’ inheritance while they are still alive…What message are they sending?”, Khaphela added.

In response to Khaphela’s comments, executive producer of the show, Mfundi Mvundla told Daily Sun, “Mike, like all citizens in our democratic society, is entitled to his views but millions of viewers have made us the number one series in the country.”

Is Khaphela from Generations still alive?

Khaphela from the series Generations is still alive.
The actor is set to appear in the South African soap opera Uzalo which airs on SABC1.

According to reports on last year’s Sunday papers, actor Mike Mvelase was in trouble and faces spending “Christmas on the Streets”.

The publication claimed that the “top soapie star” was facing Christmas on the streets after the bank repossessed his home before putting it up for auction.

The paper claims to have called him about the matter to which he replied:My brother, I’m talking to the lawyers about this matter, but you are being unfair, you can’t be talking to me about this matter. Please my brother, this is no laughing matter.
