Howden Makes a Significant Entry into Peru Through Major Buyout

The Products and Services of Acquired Companies Attracting 3,000 customers.

Howden has acquired Contacto Corredores de Seguros S.A. (Contacto), a Peruvian insurance broker, marking the company’s entry into the Peruvian insurance market. Howden sees this as a step towards achieving its goal of expanding its footprint in Latin America, which will allow for improved client services in that region.

Contacto, Peru’s second largest insurance broker, was founded in 1984 by Maximiliano Goller and bought by Buenaventura (BVN) in 1987. Based in Lima, Peru, the company primarily serves the precious metals mining industry in the areas of property-casualty and employee benefits.

Through the Howden One network of local strategic broker partners, Howden and Contacto have been working together since 2017. As a result of the completed merger with Contacto, Howden will have over 800 personnel spanning Peru, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, and Brazil, with key support coming out of their Miami headquarters.

The timing of Howden LatAm’s purchase of Contacto couldn’t be better. With the addition of the Contacto team, we will be the second largest insurance broker in Peru, giving our clients a legitimate alternative in a market where demand for specialised insurance solutions is rising rapidly. The CEO of Howden LatAm, Pablo Bores, has stated that the company is taking steps to further establish itself as a market leader by providing brokerage services that combine local, specific knowledge with the breadth of Howden’s international offering in order to fulfil rising client demand.
